VOC

Takes its name and seventeenth-century maritime theme from the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, more commonly known as the Dutch East India Company which, from 1602, enjoyed a lucrative monopoly of the Asian spice trade

During the seventeenth century, punches were a big deal. Traditionally made with five ingredients including a spirit (either Dutch gin called genever or arrack made with coconut palm), punches have made a come back at VOC with the involvement of Fluid Movement (the team behind Purl Marylebone and The Whistling Shop in Shoreditch), a collective of award winning mixologists and drinks enthusiasts. Since opening in 2009, VOC has created a phenomenal range of drinks inspired from a bygone era with a modern Interpretation, using seasonal produce and the latest molecular mixology techniques.

VOC Grill offers a wide range of culinary delights in the pretty and cosy dining area. Whether you are looking for fulfilling delectable cocktail & grill style dishes or craving for crispy fresh salads and the charming flavours of the Mediterranean; loving grill, burgers & stakes or being a vegetarian enthusiast, our menu is carefully designed to please your appetite.

As the Festive season is here our cocktail mixologist shares his very Christmassy cocktail recipe for cosy winter house parties. (Not available at VOC Grill, but a suggested recipe for home.) Mulled wine with its full and aromatic flavour is an inevitable item of the festive winter atmosphere; here you can find its more sophisticated version full of cheerful flavours. Watch out, it will be mind-blowingly delicious!
You just need:
1 bottle fruity red wine
1 mug of still water
4 oz Kahlua
5 Cinnamon sticks
3 Star anise pods
1 Orange’s granulated peel
2 tsp. Agave syrup
A little magic:
Mix all the ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, but avoid boiling. We don’t want to lose alcohol. The heavenly liquid needs 10 minutes to cool down before serving in punch cups. Use a stick of cinnamon or a twisted orange peel and cloves as garnish. Enjoy!  ..
